Taiwan Wild Coast · East Coast Taiwan
Come for the waves. Leave knowing Taiwan.
A personally hosted, seven-day surf journey through Taiwan’s East Coast, local food, dramatic landscapes, and rural culture.
Or call Brent directly — 831-212-6408A trip, not a camp
Taiwan Wild Coast was created for surfers who want more than another surf camp. This is a small-group journey through one of Asia’s most dramatic coastlines.
Surf locations are selected around the day’s conditions. Meals are chosen because they reveal something about Taiwan. The route moves through mountains, coastal communities, rivers, hot springs, and places that took years and repeated trips to uncover.
Guests come for the surf. They leave with a deeper relationship to Taiwan.
Four elements, one week.
01 — 04
Surf
Conditions-led sessions selected for the group's ability and the day's swell.

Food
Night markets, Japanese influences, and memorable meals along the winding coast.

Landscape
Jungle-green mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and cliffside roads leading to the water.

Local Life
A closer look at rural Taiwan through the people and communities that shape the coast.
Seven days on the East Coast.
A likely rhythm, not a rigid schedule. The daily sequence changes according to swell, weather, and the day’s local conditions.
Field Note
“The best sessions often happen when we deviate from the plan. Flexibility is the point.”
Arrival and first taste of Taiwan
Meeting the group and heading to our first coastal dinner to settle into the island pace.
First surf and East Coast orientation
A light morning session to find our feet, followed by an afternoon on the local rural roads.
Surf, regional food, and coastal exploration
A longer surf session followed by a trip to a nearby town for regional specialties and coastal vistas.
Surf and natural hot spring
Resting the shoulders in a natural geothermal spring deep in the jungle after an early morning session.
Rivers, waterfalls, or swimming holes
Swap salt for fresh water — an afternoon exploring one of the East Coast's inland detours.
Final full surf day and special dinner
The last long day in the water, closing with a shared meal chosen for the group.
Closing morning and departure
A slow morning together before the group heads home.
A likely day — not a promise. Surf, weather, and local conditions shape the actual schedule.
Surf selected for the day.
The coastline offers rock, cobblestone, and boulder-bottom breaks. Many waves break closer to shore than conventional beginner beach breaks.
Break selection depends on swell, weather, ability, and safety. We surf where the day sends us.
Small groups and local flexibility create the possibility of quieter sessions, but surf and crowds can never be guaranteed.

Sleep above the surf.
Modern cliffside cabins with large windows facing the ocean. Simple interiors, comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and the sound of waves from the room.
Close to nature without asking you to camp.
After the boards are packed away.
Steam rising from a bowl. A restaurant you would have driven past. A table full of dishes ordered for the group. A night market on the first evening. A meal that explains Taiwan better than a guidebook.
- — Night-market welcome
- — Taiwanese and Japanese-influenced cuisine
- — Regional East Coast restaurants and roadside finds
- — Potential Indigenous omakase-style dinner (subject to confirmation)

Rivers, hot springs, and the coast’s quieter corners.
Natural hot springs. Rivers and swimming holes. Waterfalls. Farmers, fishermen, and the Indigenous cultural presence that shapes the East Coast. We visit with respect, not as spectators — and we support local businesses along the way.

Three more days. Deeper into Taiwan.
Stay on after the surf journey for a guided inland extension through Jiu Fen — the mountain town that inspired Spirited Away— Beitou Hot Springs, the National Palace Museum, and a Taipei night market.
- Three additional days of guided travel
- Jiu Fen lantern lanes and tea houses
- Beitou Hot Springs onsen experience
- National Palace Museum — Forbidden City art collection
- Taipei night market — street food and local energy
- Accommodation, meals, and transport included

“I want you to experience in seven days what took me five trips to find.”
I started surfing at twelve at Cowell Beach in Santa Cruz. Taiwan entered my life through my partner, who was born there, and over five trips I kept returning to the East Coast.
Each visit revealed another break, restaurant, road, river, and hot spring I had missed before. I created this retreat because I want to show people how much exists here beyond the obvious.
